When we first created the color palette for this site, we quickly realized we could easily create some really nice color combination all based on just one image which inspired us to use a style switcher to change up the site for users who have something against brown, this was purely done for fun and to pass the time at the dentist office while surfing the site &hellip
The how it came about
the color scheme for this site was inspired by an old article by Andy Clarke, on creating some nice color palettes in Beachball CS3 using old pictures. you can view the article here at on his personal site .
Fun with the Styles–switcher
Add ons, plugins & los modules!
The beauty of ExpressionEngine is how you can extended the core of EE with some great modules, plugins & extensions to help you achieve what you need to get done. When we built the site we wanted to experiment with some new ExpressionEngine addons that we hadn't tried before, one of the first we added to the site was the wonderful SL google map for easy integration of the Googles map API so we can post a map of all our meets ups making it a lot easier for out of towners to find us in Montreal. We highly recommend you check it out SL Google maps by U.K based Experience internet. We highly recommend you check out their other plugins. we know we will
Levi & Brandon make it all good
Like all of our ExpressionEngine powered sites; we used brandon kelly's fiedlframes and Levi's Lg Replaceto create an easy to update picture submission form in the back end and create easy to update weblogs with FFMatrix, if interested on how to do create a gallery with the above mentioned plugins, you can find an easy to follow tutorial by @AJP on vimeo
More to come
we plan on developing a few add ons as a project for the meet up group, so expect more updates from us on that front
